The sauna lets guests plunge straight into Princes Dock for an instant refresh

Wyld Sauna, Liverpool’s floating sauna at Princes Dock, is expanding its waterfront presence with a brand-new location.

The Nordic-style floating sauna offers a one-of-a-kind city escape — combining wood-fired heat, cold plunges, and tranquil views of the water in the heart of the docklands.

Launched in November, the original setup accommodates up to 30 guests and features ice baths, outdoor waterfall showers, and the UK’s first-ever floating sauna experience — where guests can jump directly into the dock for an invigorating cooldown.

With traditional löyly-style steam generated by water poured over sauna stones, the heat level is customizable for each session. Following strong demand, Wyld has now confirmed it will open a second sauna unit this summer.

The expansion includes a new, custom-designed 16-person sauna moored near the current one. It will be available for private bookings, small group sessions, corporate wellness packages, and immersive retreat-style experiences.

Infrastructure improvements include private dockside changing cubicles, new showers for personal use, permanent toilets, an outdoor seating area, and a waterside café for guests to enjoy post-sauna snacks and refreshments.

Additional upgrades focus on comfort: enhanced heaters for consistent warmth, reduced guest capacity to avoid crowding, and specialized time slots including quiet sessions and women-only hours.

Co-founder Jon Miller shared, “The last six months have been an incredible start for Wyld, and we’ve listened carefully to feedback. People asked for more space, privacy, and variety — and that’s what we’re bringing with this new chapter.”

“Our mission is simple: to make nature, heat, cold, and connection accessible to everyone. We’re proud to grow alongside our community and continue creating something truly special on Liverpool’s waterfront.”

The sauna also plans to host inclusive sessions for Liverpool’s diverse communities — including men-only, women-only, LGBTQ+ guests, faith groups, and guests aged 50+.

Expect new formats too, from silent or whisper-only experiences to guided aromatherapy ceremonies and sound baths — making each visit to Wyld a unique sensory journey.

Wyld Sauna is also in the running for several categories in the Sauna Summit Awards 2025, including Best Design and Best New Sauna. Vote here.
