You can do a lot of things on boats these days. From luxury cruises to ABBA parties to Horrible Histories’ tour of the Thames, the options are endless, but a new boat activity that claims to be the first of its kind in the UK is docking up in London to let off some steam.
Landing in Canary Wharf today, a ‘sauna boat’ has arrived from Sweden to hit the city and provide a floating version of the health benefits of both sauna and cold plunges.

On April 26, which just so happens to be World Sauna Day, the sauna on the water will launch to customers in London, bringing a 15-person, Scandinavian-style wood-fired sauna for stressed-out city-dwellers to head to for a big relax.
Skuna Boats, who are behind this sauna boat, are hoping to launch this across the country, and are hoping to lure people in with the 70-90°C sauna before a dip into the 6°C rooftop cold plunge pool. Plus, there will be DJs on hand to add to the experience and turn it into a more social setting with the views of the city around you.
Speaking on the news, Skuna Boats founder Tommo Thompson said: “We hope the UK’s first Sauna Boat captures the nation’s attention! Our vision is not only to bring the powerful health and wellness benefits of saunas and cold plunges to London, but also to embrace the sauna’s Scandinavian roots, where the social aspect plays a central role. Expect an incredible, authentic Scandinavian Sauna experience, complete with DJ curated music – all whilst taking in the views of iconic and historic Canary Wharf! This is the first of many Sauna Boats for the UK as we plan to sail them to waters across the UK.”
Customers in London will be able to use the floating sauna from April 26, which is World Sauna Day.
